Why I Love Julien Solomita’s Aries Cooking Videos on Youtube

When I tell you that Jenna Marbles’ and Julien Solomita’s humor got me through my junior high school life, it’s only a slight understatement because it’s impossible to depend on mere Youtube videos for human survival. But I watched them like all the time.

Jenna Marbles and Julien Solomita are a Youtube couple who produce comedic entertainment, ratchet beauty videos, do podcasts and livestreams; and more recently Julien has been uploading cooking videos on his individual channel.

The couple’s dogs are just about as famous as they are. Pictured above (from left to right) is Peach, Kermit (the spelling varies from comment to comment), and Marbles. They recently added a new dog to the canine bunch, a large rescue greyhound named Bunny.

Each dog has their own bright (or crying) personality, and they have cameos in almost all of Jenna and Julien’s videos. The eldest dog, Marbles, a chihuahua who sometimes crosses the barriers of appearing to be alive or not and has a loosely hanging tongue, is what inspired Jenna to use the name “Marbles” as her Youtube surname. Jenna’s channel was one of the first super popular channels right as Youtube became a mainstream trend. She has been on Youtube since 2010, and currently has a subscriber count of over 19.5 million. Woah.

Her boyfriend since 2014, Julien, has been an influencer and streamer for several years and currently does vlogs on his Youtube channel. More recently, he’s seemed to have turned his channel into a culinary art show. Using his superior editing skills and aesthetic camera angles, watching him make homemade Lay’s potato chips or a giant Aries cookie, is one of my main ways to relax nowadays. Below is an image of the only time his Aries cookie looked nice—before he put it in the oven.

Not only is watching him cook in the videos somewhat cathartic and homey-feeling, but it can also cause me to laugh my gay ass off.

Exhibit A: Julien “doin’ it to em.”

Also, the amount of Aries energy in his videos is unreal. Jenna’s opposing Virgo energy getting extremely nervous at how nonchalant Julien can be while doing things like holding (tossing around) a knife is also the core of the comedy in the videos.

That trio of pictures just emanates Aries energy, doesn’t it? Perhaps that’s why they have titled it “Aries Kitchen,” as written on Julien’s very professional chef outfit that Jenna got him. Before the videos became a regular thing on Julien’s channel, they were loosely given the title “J&J Kitchen” when Jenna and Julien would make homemade vegan meals on both of their channels.

The cauliflower buffalo wings is a personal favorite recipe from them of mine. I’m not vegan but that stuff looked amazing. Both of them being vegan and Julien being diagnosed with Celiac’s disease, their diet has to be solely vegan and appropriate to Julien’s dietary needs. But even through this, Julien has uploaded videos of him cooking some delicious-looking food, such as mac n’ cheese, a homemade crunchwrap, spicy noodles, and a breakfast sandwich. It all seems to be the comfort food you love to eat at home on a rainy day or a lazy Sunday. On the other hand, he also plays around with vegan recipes he finds online, such as the banana peel pulled pork sandwich, which proved to be an epic failure of a vegan recipe. He also gave a platform for ways to make tofu that doesn’t suck, for all you vegans out there. Jenna has uploaded a few cooking videos onto her channel as well, like her making Julien’s birthday cake and a whole Thanksgiving feast.

All in all, I just wanted to give my opinion on how much I love the direction that both of these amazing influencers’ channels are going. Hell yeah.
